As the winter months begin to draw nearer, and the autumn leaves litter the ground, what better event to venture out for than The First Sunday, which takes place the first Sunday of each month at the wonderful Westbourne Studios in the heart of London’s Notting Hill area?
A haven for parents who have hung up their clubbing shoes, but still like to socialise and take pride in their appearance, The First Sunday is perfect, as kids are very welcome and adults can catch up and hang out with friends in a stylish airy environment. It sure beats spending the afternoon with your sprogs in a smokey pub in a confined space. Here at The First Sunday, the enormous space boasts a bar and restaurant, crèche and cinema to name but a few.
At The First Sunday, the in-house cinema always features a featured film along with cartoons, with music on the decks supplied Xfm’s Eddy Temple-Morris and friends, who this month will be Femi Fem from Young Disciples, the early 90’s acid jazz band responsible for the top 20 hit ‘Apparently Nothing’. He’ll be dropping quality eclectic grooves providing a musical down tempo back drop. The featured film will be Spy Kids 3-D Game Over. Secret agents Juni and Carmen Cortez set out on their most mind-blowing mission yet: a journey inside the virtual reality world of a 3-D video game where awe-inspiring graphics and creatures come dangerously to life! Cartoons this month include Tazmania, and every ones favourite Tom & Jerry.
As ever, our friends at EA GAMES, who have continued to support The First Sunday by supplying us with the latest games and game pods, have once again pulled out all the stops by providing us with games 'EA GAMES Burnout 3 Takedown' and 'EA SPORTS FIFA Football 2005'. If your kids are between 2 and 4 years old feel free to leave them in the crèche by ‘Jack In The Box’ where Katia and her professionally trained staff will keep them entertained with colouring, drawing and games. You could even get their face painted by one of the best face painters in the country Bibi. Adults welcome too!
If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got an eight man table tennis table – a favourite feature of The First Sunday enjoyed by all, and a massive inflatable for the kids to lose themselves in. All we ask is for adults to pay a fiver, and kids, regardless of amount get in for free. Once in, all you pay for is your food and drinks, we even provide all the Sunday papers. Talking of food and drinks, a special brunch, Sunday lunch and kiddies menu is provided by the bar and restaurant Under The Westway. What more do you need on a Sunday, especially as it’s too dark and cold to go to a park?
Over the past few months the event has been visited by supermodels and their kids, fashion designers, and high profile musicians. See what all the fuss is about. Remember, you don’t to have kids to appreciate The First Sunday, but if you do and you bring them, they’ll love you forever!
